This is very convenient, as most users already carry such a cable in their go bags. No special adaptors or power supplies are needed. My favorite part about this mobile scanner is that it can be charged by a standard USB to 6micro-USB cable. According to Fujitsu, the iX100 can continuously scan about 260 sheets on a single charge and about 140–160 per charge for normal casual operation. I was able to tote the scanner around in my bag for about a week on a single charge doing causal scanning of business cards and handouts at meetings (watching jaws drop on clients was secretly pleasurable). The iX100 battery lasts surprisingly long when you consider the speed, power and compact footprint of the scanner. If some sales person hands you a letter sized folded brochure with an image that crosses the centerfold, simply fold the pages backwards and scan both sides - the iX100 automatically stitches the pages back together. Another amazing feature of the iX100 is the Automatic Image Stitching. This scanner is so fast with its continuous document feed mode that you can scan a page, flip it over, scan the second side and auto-process the documents faster than most competing duplex scanners. The small footprint of the iX100 means it is a simplex scanner, but don't let that sway you if you're used to duplex scanners. Gone are the days of trash and rescans and manual image manipulation after scanning a pile of documents. The Secret Sauceįujitsu's custom GI Processor is amazingly fast at intelligently making all the adjustments and corrections that have plagued scanners up until now. The continuous document feed (CDF} saves time by allowing the user to keep feeding documents to the scanner, letting the Auto Deskew, Auto Orientation, Auto Color and Auto Paper Size Detection features do the work. The Dual Scan mode of the iX100 meant I was able to feed business cards into the scanner one after another without pause and from any position on the paper feed - even without waiting for the previous card to completely exit the flat path. With a quick press of the scan button on the app, the scanner woke up and started to purr. Having recently returned from a business training trip, I had a pretty nice stack of business cards, flyers and receipts I wanted to capture. Returning to the ScanSnap Connect Application, I saw that the scanner was discovered, connected and ready to scan. Login information for this private WiFi network is found on the bottom of the scanner. Within a few seconds the scanner was ready to go and was emitting a private WiFi SSID that my iPhone and iPad were able to connect to via the standard iOS WiFi settings menu. To power on the iX100, the paper feed door is opened to activate the Direct Connect mode there is a small WiFi toggle switch on the back of the scanner. Initially I installed the ScanSnap Connect Application and launched it. Getting the scanner to work with my iPhone and iPad were amazingly easy. I wanted the test the "no PC needed" mode of the iX100 and decided to do a mobile only setup first. In the box was the scanner, a USB cable, Setup DVD and documentation. Construction seemed pretty sturdy and up to par with previous Fujitsu ScanSnap products. Measuring in at a svelte 10.74 x 1.87 x 1.42 inches and weighing just a hair over 14 ounces, this scanner is small. Upon receiving the ScanSnap iX100 I immediately tore into the box and was pleasantly surprised by the extremely compact size of the device. Scan to Mac, PC, iOS, Android or Kindle Fire.Direct Connect Access mode when WiFi access not available.Simple Home/Office WiFi Setup with WPS configuration.Scan Anywhere via 2 Wireless Scanning Modes.Battery operated via Integrated Lithium Battery.Compact Portable Lightweight at 14.1 oz.Fujitsu and its award-winning ScanSnap line have been making strides in the paperless movement for years now and aim to slingshot that movement with the brand-new ScanSnap iX100. This is never more evident than a bag-dump post trade-show, business trip or networking mixer. The idea has always been very enticing however, the practical execution of getting all the paper we collect throughout the day into your computer has always felt somehow daunting and incomplete. The dream of going paperless has been sold to us neat freaks and organization nuts for decades now. Today Fujitsu introduces the ScanSnap iX100, the 2nd generation of its world-renowned mobile scanning solutions. Are you still chasing the "paperless" dream? If you are anything like the millions of us who dream of a clear inbox with simplified capture and filing system, today is your lucky day. 60 mm Tortex picksĬope’s evolutionary leap was accomplished in part by looking back to those same decades, too-a time when rock guitar’s territory was wide enough to encompass the subterranean growl of the Jesus and Mary Chain, the 6-string howl of Dinosaur Jr.’s J Mascis and Smashing Pumpkins’ Billy Corgan, and the frayed harmonic declamations of Sonic Youth and Glenn Branca. T-style with a Seymour Duncan Little ’59 bridge pickupĮrnie Ball 2220 Power Slinky sets (.011–.048) He channels his airy tenor into rising and falling melodies-a trick he learned from one of his ’80s and ’90s post-punk heroes, Morrissey, whose hometown of Manchester, England, inspired the group’s name. Hull’s voice also lends a buoyance to the band dynamic. Everybody was on the same page every step of the way in making this album, and as we put together the songs in the studio things just fell into place exactly how they needed to.” “We’re at a point as a band where the hooks come out naturally in every song,” Hull explains. Manchester Orchestra seems so instinctually adept at upholding those values that they’re able to build a sing-along vibe into the neurosis of “Indentions,” which starts with a church burning and chews on lines like, “It doesn’t matter to me … I tell myself repeatedly/What a nightmare it seemed to honestly think of anything.” Then there’s the gift for hooks, melodies, and harmonies that’s deep in Hull’s and his bandmates’ collective DNA. His gift for interior perception makes offerings like “The Mansion,” about a lost, hollow-hearted soul, and “The Ocean,” a roiling tribute to futility, seem nakedly genuine and haunted. Few songwriters today have Hull’s psychic pipeline into the minds of his characters. The trick was layering as many as 10 guitar tracks on each tune, all slightly varied in tone and execution so that, even when Hull and McDowell played the same chords, their varied picking, amp choices, and instruments created small differences that make the combined tracks pulse like a hive.Īlthough Cope does stand up on its hind legs and beat its chest, its noise also comes from mental static. “But this album is as relentless as our live shows.” “A lot of people who've never seen us live think of us as playing pretty music-which we do, and we enjoy,” notes Hull. After all, those hits were fueled by the post-Cobain mantra of alternating loud and soft dynamics in support of melodic pirouettes that soften the edge of Hull’s lyrics. To listeners casually familiar with the band through breakthrough tunes like 2006’s “Wolves at Night” or 2011’s “Simple Math,” Cope may seem like a radical departure. But what the album truly sounds like is a creative breakthrough for the uncannily hardworking Atlanta quintet that’s propelled by the dual 6-string thrust of Hull and Robert McDowell, childhood friends and kindred spirits who do for post-atomic-age rock guitar what gospel-raised Southern siblings like the Louvin Brothers did for close harmonies. Those may seem like abstractions, but the supremely overdriven sound of the new Manchester Orchestra album, Cope-which frontman Andy Hull describes with a single word, “brutal”-puts gravel in their bellies. A surging tsunami ridden by Homer’s Sirens as they call Odysseus and his men toward a volatile fate. Tectonic plates slowly grinding over a fault line of pickups. TL:DR - It's a fun little game that you can easily waste several hours on, over time, and it very easy to pick up and drop whenever you feel like it (the plot, for example, will not have a profound effect on your life and dreams). Maybe my parents taught me poor coping strategies. I did, however, find the Endless mode on this game to get ludicrously hard quite quickly, no idea why. Well, I suppose that's a bit harsh, it could probably scrape worthiness by playtime as if you were to sit and play the entire thing through it would take you an hour or two (I hesitate to comment on its worth as I can think of cheaper games with more substance). I love the Diner Dash series, I think HH is another decent rung on the ladder really, though in all honesty I don't think it's worth £7+.
